STRATIFICATO HPL By Abet Laminati
Type: HPL Decorative laminate
Stratificato HPL is a thick decorative laminate with very high quality and aesthetic performance. A very high quality material made out of a strong single compact core. Thanks to its compact nature, Stratificato HPL features a great combination of mechanical features: Flexural strength, traction, compression and impact resistance. Furthermore it has very good technical characteristics, being easy to be machined and installed, it is highly resistant to abrasion, wear, steam and humidity and is easy to clean and be maintained. It can be manufactured in full-colour grade making it the same colour throughout, which conveys uniformity to its look. Stratificato HPL is the ideal material for self-supporting furniture components. It is possible to use Stratificato HPL as replacement of traditional wall coverings, exploiting at its best the use of space minimising the maintenance, as in case of applications such as cubicles, lockers, doors and partition walls. Thanks to its aeshetic properties, the Stratificato HPL is the cladding material used in order to create furniture and furnishings: tables, chairs, lockers, kitchen tops and bathrooms. It can be used in the hospitality world, granting outstanding performances, for hospitals, laboratories, hotels, and also for marine and transport sectors. Abet laminate production process is carried out by using several Kraft paper layers impregnated with thermosetting resin and decorative paper. Kraft paper used for the sheet core is impregnated with phenolic thermosetting resins, while the decorative paper used for the surface is treated with melaminic aminoplastic resins and it is specifically designed to have high performance. Impregnated layers are stacked and bonded and, once loaded into the press, they undergo simultaneously to the combined action of heat (at the temperature of 150 °C) and pressure (up to 9 MPa). The policondensing reaction taking plce creates chemical cross bonds so that phenolic and melaminic resins are stably intertwined to each other. With its excellent resistance to water and steam, Stratificato HPL is an ideal material for applications in wet areas. Natural variations in temperature and humidity have no adverse effect on the properties of the laminate, which are not affected by thermal shocks leaving its physical and mechanical properties unchanged.
