MHC.3 MISS By Molteni & C.
Collection: Heritage
Designer: Tobia Scarpa , Afra Bianchin Scarpa
Manufacture year: 1986
Type: Ash chair with armrests
MISS is a chair with armrest with structure in natural or black tinted ash, seat in leather or hand woven, ecru or grey, paper cord. Miss chair, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1986. The form is linked to a system of soft, unbroken, linear rhythms. The legs are slim and divaricated, to ensure stability. The front ones are bent to form the armrests and continue into the curve of the backrest. The back legs reach the backrest from behind, underpinning it. The seat is inserted between the lines and links them. Tobia Scarpa has re-designed the armrest joint to make the chair comfier and more linear. Molteni&C is re-examining its own history with an eye to the future. The 80!Molteni exhibition, the creation of the company’s historical archive and its recently inaugurated Molteni Museum have provided an opportunity for revival, from the origins of modernity. Intriguing traces have emerged from a past that turns out to be contemporary, ripe for a re-think today. Unique pieces that can step straight out of their museum showcases and into our contemporary homes.
