Mathilda's seat and upholstered back are flame-retardant, stress-resistant polyurethane foam in varied densities on ash frame; raffiawrapped back is also available. Arm and leg connection is covered with fabric or leather armbands; arms and legs are ash or oak in a range of finishes. Covers are not removable. The chair is stackable up to 3. An everyday object, an easily recognized shape from our collective memory, that is why it feels familiar, there is something of a resemblance. Mathilda is a modern design in the architectural sense, in the proportions between the whole and the detail. The concept is simple, perfect for its intended use: two trestles, which give solidity and affinity, hold the seat and act as a support for the backrest while also making the chairs stackable. Considered, careful intuition brings the design bang up-to-date to create a seating system which is coherent, practical and instantly recognizable.
