The City Collection by KPF is the fruit of a collaboration with Casalgrande Padana that aspires to create a new collection of porcelain stoneware tiles for a vast array of interior design applications.‎ Inspired by four cities KPF has a long-established relationship with, having worked on various buildings and districts there over the years, The City Collection comes in four patterns (Hong Kong, London, New York and Shanghai), in a 9mm-thick 60x120 cm size with a natural surface.‎ The City Collection seeks to create a series of porcelain stoneware tiles that encapsulate the subjective experience of each place through reference to the character, materials, urban forms and textures of these remarkable cities.‎ The models and textures evolved from a close look into the nature of each place, on various levels, and from a subsequent process of simplification and abstraction to create surfaces that mirror the natural materials.‎
